The Public Works Maintenance Worker shall perform various construction, repair, maintenance and operation activities in support of the Village of Claycomo, Missouri. 


To properly function as the Public Works Maintenance Worker, and individual should possess the following:

A high degree of knowledge and skills in construction and building the grounds maintenance and repair
Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
High level of public relation and communication skills
Effective time and resource management skills


In addition to previously mentioned qualifications, the Public Works Maintenance Worker shall have the following responsibilities:

Primary Duties:

Carry out the day-to-day operational activities for construction, repair and maintenance of Village facilities, equipment and grounds in a professional and ethical manner

Specific Duties:

Perform repair and maintenance of Village owned buildings, parking lots, grounds and public easements and right-of-ways to include street and safety signage

Perform various landscaping duties, such as grass and weed cutting, planting maintenance and removal of trees and shrubbery, building and repairing fences, removing litter and applying herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers as needed

Perform general and preventative maintenance, as needed, to keep assigned equipment in good working condition; inspects equipment; checks fluid levels; replaces fluids, greases equipment, washes and cleans equipment; monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; reports faulty equipment

Operates a variety of equipment and machinery to complete tasks; utilizes mechanical, finishing, grading, various power tools and other hand tools and equipment as needed to complete essential functions

Prepares, completes or receives various work orders, maintenance logs, or other documents; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate

Adheres to established safety procedures; monitors work environments and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of self and other individuals; flags and directs traffic and places markers, sign and cones around work site/projects to ensure safety of traveling public, wears protective gear

Maintains inventory of equipment, parts and supplies; collects and transports materials and supplies to and from the job site

Communicates with supervisor, coworkers, other departments, vendors, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, and resolve problems

Operate a personal computer, general office equipment, or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheets, database, or other system software
